Why I became a travel coach

Last week I told you my story about travel and how empowering my first trip to Italy was and how much it changed me.

I’ve been on several other trips since then and have noticed after each one how much each one has changed me in some way.  That first trip was about healing and finding myself.  Other trips have been about more self-discovery and getting out of my comfort zone and living more boldly.

I realized when I first became a coach 11 years ago, doing the personal development through my Tapping into Wealth program, how small my life had been.  I had chosen a field (therapy) that played into that with all its rules and regulations.  I played it safe and had for most of my life.

Doing that work started opening me up to new possibilities so that by the time I went on that trip to Rome, I was more open to expanding my life even more.  I knew that traveling was my way of living a bigger and more exciting life, challenging me in ways that I needed to be challenged.  I  learned more about myself while traveling than I have in all the years of therapy and coaching I’ve been through.

I see traveling as a way to break through barriers, challenge yourself, and get out of your comfort zone but also as a way to grieve, heal, transform, and make new discoveries.

I know that women over 50 are often coming alive in this time in our lives.  It’s a time of change and rediscovery.  It’s a time when we become more vocal. It’s also a time when we may be experiencing some of life’s challenges such as going through a divorce, becoming an empty nester, questioning whether you want to continue in the same career or if your job is the right one for you anymore.  It’s a time when your parent, who you’ve been caring for, is no longer with you and you’re grieving.

Often, it’s a time that leaves you feeling lost and confused as to who you are now and what you want to do for the rest of your life because you are changing and your role in life has changed.

I see travel as a wonderful and powerful way to make these transitions because of all the reasons I talked about for myself.  I want to guide other women through some of the experiences I’ve had but also personalize the transformation for whatever that means for you.  Travel is such a fun, empowering, exciting, and healing way to make these transformations happen.  This is why I am so passionate about the work I’m doing as a travel coach.
